Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address, name (if provided), and authentication credentials. If you sign in with Google, we receive basic profile information from your Google account.

Wellness Data

To provide our services, we collect and store data you voluntarily provide, including journal entries, mood logs, meditation sessions, affirmations, and conversations with the AI companion (processed by OpenAI).

Community Posts (Together Feature)

When you share posts in the Together community, we collect post content (text and photos), likes, and comments. These posts are PUBLIC and visible to all MindMate users. You can delete your posts anytime.

Content Moderation

To keep our community safe, all Together posts (text and images) are automatically checked for inappropriate content using OpenAI's moderation service before being published. Posts flagged as potentially harmful are not published and are stored for review. This is a free safety service provided by OpenAI.

Profile Photos

Optional photos you upload for your profile are stored securely in Google Cloud Storage and are only visible to you in your profile.

Feedback & Support

Feedback you submit through the app, including your user ID and any information you choose to include, is used solely to improve the app and respond to your requests.

Usage Information

We collect information about how you use the app, such as features accessed, session duration, and device information (device type, operating system, app version).

3. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Firebase and Google Cloud services, which employ industry-standard encryption both in transit and at rest. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction.

However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

4. Third-Party Services

Services We Use

• Firebase/Google Cloud: Authentication, database, and file storage
• OpenAI: Powers the AI companion feature. Your conversation messages are sent to OpenAI's servers for processing to generate personalized responses. OpenAI retains data for 30 days, then deletes it (per their policy). Conversations are stored in your private MindMate account and you can delete them anytime. OpenAI Privacy Policy

5. Your Rights

• Access: You can view and export your data anytime from your Profile page
• Correction: You can update your profile information at any time
• Deletion: Contact us to request account deletion; we will remove your data within 30 days
• Opt-out: You can disable notifications and reminders in your settings

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data only in these limited circumstances:

• With service providers who help us operate the app (under strict confidentiality agreements)
• If required by law or to protect our rights and safety
• In connection with a merger or acquisition (you will be notified)

7. Children's Privacy

MindMate is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification. Your continued use of MindMate after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
